Baking soda can save the earth?

This has some pertinence to health, and some also to science. Have any of you folks heard the news about the new idea of how baking soda can possibly help prevent further damage from global warming? Probably not I would guess, and I didn't either until today actually. I thought it was interesting, so I figured I would post about it. Baking soda is produced by using carbon dioxide as a raw material, so it could possibly make a little bit of sense as a solution to the problem.

As most people probably know, smoke from the smoke stacks of industries is a large contributor to carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and, in turn, a major cause of global warming. If you use this waste carbon dioxide to make baking soda, then it could possibly solve the problem to a certain extent. I don't know how they are planning to make this work, and it is still quite far away from becoming a reality I think, but it could be worth a try.
